A fine and distinctive Victorian pendant in 18ct gold, c.1880, modelled as a castle turret with brick-engraved detailing throughout and a circular bloodstone panel set to the base. The turret form with a heraldic stone at the base is a classic fob seal format — the bloodstone, with its deep green ground and red jasper inclusions, has been the preferred stone for seal engraving since antiquity, its hardness taking a crisp impression in wax and its dark colour providing excellent contrast. The circular bloodstone panel is unengraved and ready to receive initials, a monogram, or a family crest — making this both a piece of antique jewellery and a functional seal that can be personalised for its new owner. At 7g and 25mm tall (including bale) this is a pendant of real substance. Unhallmarked; tests as 18ct gold.
