These earrings, circa 1980–90, are sculpted in 18ct gold as delicate five-petal flowers, each centred on a lustrous akoya pearl. Akoya pearls — cultivated in the cold waters of Japan — are prized above all other cultured pearls for their exceptional lustre, perfectly round form, and characteristic rose-tinted overtone.
