A fine and rare pair of antique waistcoat buttons, dating to circa 1910–20 and presented in their original case. Each button is inlaid with mother of pearl in a rub-over platinum setting, centred with a Montana sapphire — the characteristic steel-blue of the Montana stone providing a quietly distinguished accent against the lustrous white of the pearl. The backs are in 18ct yellow gold. Originally made as waistcoat buttons, they are equally suited to use as evening shirt studs — a versatility that makes them as practical as they are beautiful.
