A fine and richly coloured pair of 1960s earrings in 18ct gold, combining cabochon emeralds and rubies with brilliant and baguette-cut diamonds in a composition of bold, architectural elegance. Each earring is set with a landscape-oriented cabochon emerald of an estimated 1.6 carats total at the top, and a portrait-set cabochon ruby of an estimated 2.06 carats total beneath — the contrasting orientations giving the design a considered, graphic quality. Twenty-four brilliant-cut diamonds form the outer edge, with four baguette-cut diamonds set to the base, totalling an estimated 1.15 carats of diamonds throughout. At 2.3 × 1.2cm and 11.6g, these are earrings of real substance and presence. Fitted with post and integral clip fittings.
