A rare and ingenious Art Deco platinum ring, c.1930, with a flip-over mechanism that allows the wearer to choose between two faces: one set with sapphires and diamonds, the other with rubies and diamonds. The flip-over ring — in which the central section of the band rotates on a pivot, presenting either face to the top of the finger — is one of the more unusual and technically demanding formats in antique jewellery, and a well-preserved example in platinum from the Art Deco period is genuinely rare. In effect, this is two rings in one: the cool blue of the sapphire face for one occasion, the vivid red of the ruby face for another.

The estimated stone weights are 0.9 carats of sapphires, 0.9 carats of rubies, and 0.6 carats of diamonds, the diamonds appearing on both faces as part of the setting. The ring is 8.8mm wide across the finger and tests as platinum throughout. In excellent condition. Non-resizable.
