An exceptional Victorian garnet slider bracelet in 15ct gold, dating to circa 1860–1870. Its herringbone construction is centred by a double-knot motif set with a juicy cabochon garnet. The deep-coloured central stone is foil-backed, giving it a wonderfully lively character.
The adjustable slider is finished with a smaller cabochon garnet and foliate engraving to the goldwork, with a decorative character reminiscent of Regency jewellery. The gold retains its original gilded finish, adding a rich lustre to the bracelet.
These bracelets are often found with damage, making the excellent condition of this example particularly pleasing. At 35.4g, it is a substantial piece of mid-Victorian jewellery, with an adjustable fit and a distinctive design.
