A bold and beautifully crafted Austrian floral brooch in 14ct gold, c.1940–1950, combining carved amethyst petals with carved nephrite jade leaves — a combination that is quintessentially Viennese in its love of rich colour and fine hardstone carving. Small diamonds accent the centres of the amethyst petals, and elegant gold wire stems sweep from behind the carving with characteristic refinement. The nephrite leaves are in exceptional condition. Bearing Austrian export marks for 14ct gold. A substantial piece at 22.6g with real presence on the lapel.
