A refined Edwardian stickpin of considerable charm, circa 1910–20, crafted in France in platinum and 18ct yellow gold. The head depicts two interlocking circles — one set with calibré-cut rubies, the other with eight precisely cut diamonds — a motif with deep romantic symbolism, representing the union of two lives or two souls. The interlocking circles design was a favourite of Edwardian jewellers, who used it to express devotion and fidelity in the language of gemstones: rubies for passion, diamonds for eternity.

The platinum and gold combination is quintessentially Edwardian — platinum for the diamond settings to maximise brilliance, gold for the structural elements.
