A fine vintage jabot brooch in white gold, c.1980. The jabot — a two-ended pin designed to be worn through a lapel, cravat, or scarf, with one decorative element above and one below — is a form with roots in 18th century dress that has enjoyed enduring favour among collectors and connoisseurs. This example is of exceptional quality: the upper section is set with a principal cabochon sapphire of 2.21 carats in a rub-over setting, surrounded by a brilliant-cut diamond surround, with a smaller cabochon emerald of 0.74 carats beneath. The lower section is a stylised diamond-set heart. The diamonds throughout are graded G/H and VS1/VS2 — excellent quality stones. Fitted with a white gold pin and safety chain.
