A magnificent and rare pair of earrings in 18ct yellow gold, made in Rome in the 1970s–1980s, each centred on a large oval cabochon of natural lavender jade in a rub-over setting, the outer edge set with tapered baguette and brilliant-cut diamonds. The jade totals an estimated 25 carats across the pair and is accompanied by a gem certificate confirming it as natural, untreated purple jade — a significant distinction in a market where treated jade is commonplace. The diamonds total an estimated 3 carats, the combination of baguette and brilliant cuts giving the surround a rich, layered brilliance.
